Science at The Ebbsfleet Academy
Experiments and investigations are the beating heart of scientific knowledge, and so science at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 is very practical, with a wide range of experiments being undertaken using our excellent facilities.
Key Stage 4
Students will follow one of two pathways during Key Stage 4 based on the Edexcel specification at The Ebbsfleet Academy. They will either study Core Science in Years 9 and 10 (with an exam in Year 10) followed by Additional Science in Years 10 and 11, or for those students wishing to explore the Sciences to a more advanced level, there is the option of obtaining a Further Additional Science GCSE as well. Within both pathways, students have an exciting and broad curriculum which looks at aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics; and those completing all three qualifications will have covered exactly the same content as if they had taken separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Key Stage 3
Students study the Exploring Science course throughout Years 7 and 8. This dynamic, interesting and engaging curriculum allows students to build their knowledge across the Sciences and gain valuable practical skills in preparation for their Key Stage 4 courses.
