The Ebbsfleet Academy House system
On entry into the academy, each student will be allocated to one of four Houses. Our House system provides both a vehicle through which children from different year groups can work collaboratively and a focus for friendly academic and non-academic competition.
Ms H Hicks - Head of House - BELL
Ms Hicks has been working pastorally with students for the past eight years. In January 2013 she moved to The Ebbsfleet Academy leading on the Pastoral care of the school and is now adding Head of Bell to her role within the academy.
Ms Hicks plans to develop all students in the academy by introducing a peer mentoring programme allowing students to act on behalf of the academy to support younger students who have transitioned from Primary School.
Ms Hicks will challenge herself to ensure Bell House demonstrates the highest standards in lessons, around the school and in the community. She will continue to develop the Bell House team both academically and practically by ensuring all students in Bell are committed to inter-house events, dedicated to their tutor group, take responsibility and feel a sense of enthusiasm and pride in Bell House.
Mr S Millar - Head of House - DRAKE
Mr Millar has been with The Ebbsfleet Academy since it opened in 2013. Since joining us he has taken a lead within the Technology Department and has now become Head of House for Drake. Mr Millar went to Queens University and studied Educational Studies with Technology and Design achieving a 2:1 BEd (Hons).
Mr Millar aims to install a competitive drive into the students of his house, pushing them to aspire and excel in every aspect of school life which will help prepare them for the challenges they will face in the future.
“I believe that Drake House have the attitude and determination to be the best in everything we do. Drake House students will work together, be competitive, set the standard in lessons and they will celebrate success together with their fantastic tutors as a community. I know this is going to be a great year for Drake House."
Mr C Hicks - Head of House - SCOTT
Mr Hicks studied at the University of Greenwich and achieve d a BA Honours degree in Law. He continued his journey in 2004 when he became an administrator at Deptford Green School in South East London. This allowed him to realise his passion for ICT / Computing and he chose to enter teaching profession in 2007/8 completing the Graduate Teacher Programme.
Mr Hicks continued his progression by becoming a KS3 coordinator and later a 2nd in Charge of ICT / Computer Science department. In September 2014 he moved to the Ebbsfleet Academy to set up the Computer Science curriculum and is now adding Head of Scott House to his roles within the academy.
Mr Hicks has challenged himself to create an outstanding house where he will encourage all students to reach their full potential.
“Scott House will work together to achieve the best for all of its students. I want all students to challenge themselves to become resilient, responsible learners so that we can all take pride in our achievements together. With the support of Scott House we aim to be the best, we want to be the best and there is no reason why we won’t be the best!"
Mr A Jenner - Head of House - SHARMAN
Mr Jenner completed a Sports Coaching and Physical Education degree The University of Chichester achieving a 2:1 BA (Hons). He then studied a PGCE in Physical Education before converting into a Mathematics Teacher at a previous school in Hampshire.
Mr Jenner has high expectations of all students within Sharman House. He wants them all to be successful at any given subject and extra-curricular activity. He plans to create an inclusive atmosphere where all students have the ambition and drive to be successful.
"The pastoral and tutor team will work tirelessly in order to ensure pupils are focused and successful whilst at The Ebbsfleet Academy. As a team we will work together to achieve the best and secure the House Trophy"
