‘Art in Books’ Exhibition Presented by EA6
Today, Tuesday 3rd December 2019, final preparations are underway at The Ebbsfleet Academy’s sixth form, EA6, as BTEC Art and Design students bring together a collection of art work to showcase at the Sir Peter Blake Gallery, Dartford Library. The exhibition entitled ‘Art in Books’ celebrates and encourages the talented EA6 art and design students and aims to inspire more young people to consider studying creative subjects.
The ‘Art in Books’ exhibition is open to the general public on Saturday 7th December 2019 until Saturday 4th January 2020. To celebrate the opening of the exhibition all academy students, parents, carers and staff are invited to a private viewing on Saturday 7th December 2019 from 11am – 1pm.
Ms Shergill, Principal for The Ebbsfleet Academy, said: “The exhibition is a great example of the talent and enthusiasm of our EA6 students. They all have a real passion for the subject, which can be seen from the diverse range of creative pieces that will be on display. I’m very proud of what the students have achieved and I would like to thank the Sir Peter Blake Gallery for creating the opportunity to share the exceptional talent of our young people and for helping them to take that next step towards preparing to enter ‘The Arts’ as a profession.”
Su Hallows-Ashford, Art and Design teacher for The Ebbsfleet Academy, said: “We are delighted to have the support of the Sir Peter Blake Gallery, hosting our ‘Art in Books’ exhibition. It is important to create opportunities for students to exhibit their work in a public gallery as it will give them the confidence to achieve their aspirations and pursue a career within the creative industries.”
From September 2020 the EA6 curriculum is offering A Level Art and Design. Studying Art and Design at A Level will equip students with a set of transferable skills both for life and for a wide range of vocational areas. This course allows students to explore a range of disciplines before deciding which area they want to study at degree level.
Teona, BTEC Art and Design student at The Ebbsfleet Academy, said: “I really enjoy studying at EA6 and have realised what I can achieve. I have learnt new techniques and processes and I feel better prepared for the future. The best thing about studying at EA6 is the facilities and the support of the teachers. Plus, I have made great friends and we all help and inspire each other. The exhibition is a big opportunity for us to showcase what we can do and we hope the public enjoy the work we have created this year.”
