Welcome to Year 11 Event
Thank you to those who were able to attend last night, I hope you found it useful and are clearer in how you can support your child going forward to next year.
If you were unable to attend please see attached a summary of the slides used along with an overview commentary.
Slide 2: Overview of key event that will be happening during Year 11.
Slide 3: Pupils do not have a year left, give or take a couple of INSET days and holidays, pupils only have around 150 school days remaining.
Slide 4: Sometimes it will not be a smooth journey, ask your parents/carers and academy staff to help you if you are struggling, we are here to support.
Slide 5: Good habits are vitally important for your child. Pupils should hand their phones into you before working/revising to avoid distractions. (Some pupils believe their life will be over if they are over 5 metres away from their phones - science has proven that this is in fact not true!)
Slide 6: During the academic year, various leaflets from our partners at PiXL will be sent to you. They include tips for parents/carers on supporting your child through Year 11 (two attached to this email).
Slide 7-11: Revision is replacing 'prep'. Your child no longer has to do look, cover, write, check if they don't wish to. There are various revision techniques (in their folders) which they can try. We expect at least 2 x 30 minutes of revision 5 times per week.
Slide 12: All pupils have been given a summer project; it is important that they complete work over the summer to keep their brains active and ready for Year 11.
Slide 13: Masterclasses will be happening from 3:00-3:30pm from September and the subjects initially offering classes are on this slide. They are optional and we encourage all to attend
If you have any questions about Year 11 please do not hesitate to contact the academy.
