The Ebbsfleet Academy is delighted to announce the appointment of their new Head Boy and Head Girl, along with a wider prefect team as part of its commitment to promoting student leadership. Our congratulations go to Callum who will fulfil the role of Head Boy and to Ruby who will be Head Girl.
They were both appointed following a rigorous selection process which involved speeches and a final interview with members of the senior leadership team.
Ms Gurjit Shergill, Principal for The Ebbsfleet Academy is passionate about developing distributed leadership within the academy. The position of Head Boy and Head Girl are extremely important the most senior student roles in the academy. They are the leaders of the student community and an important link between students and staff.
Assisting Callum and Ruby in their duties will be Deputy Head Boy - Morgan, Deputy Head Girl - Jessica and School Council Clerk – Amelia.
Ms Shergill said, “I am delighted that in my first year as Principal at The Ebbsfleet Academy, I have the support of Callum, Ruby and their team as we work together to take the academy forward. I believe this appointment shows the unity between the staff and students we are fortunate to have here and reflects the calibre and leadership skills of the students we produce. The way all the students approached their interview was exceptional and it was a delight to see first-hand the confidence and intelligence they brought to such a challenging process.”
Callum and Ruby, together with their team will play an ambassadorial role within the school, speak at public events such as open events. They will be role models for the wider school community and will maintain a visible presence around the school, presenting in assemblies to all year groups, organise student voice activities and lead academy council meetings. In addition to this, together with their team they will also play an important role at parent evenings by sharing their experience at the academy and giving tours.
