EA6 Curriculum

EA6 Curriculum 2021/22

Our EA6 curriculum for 2021/22 will help prepare you for an EPIC future in a career of your choice or at University. We will be encouraging you to choose from a range of A Level and vocational courses to suit you and ensure you future academic and career success.

We are encouraging you to choose from a range of subjects within one of our three EA6 Pathways. These pathways have been specifically designed to help prepare you for a variety of careers.

Education and Public Service

 

Suited for careers in… policing, teaching, civil service, government, policy research, law,

3 x A Levels

Choose one subject from each block

 

 

 

 

 

English
Maths
Business
  • You will gain work experience in Primary schools
  • You will become a Subject Department Representative 
  • Take an active role in planning and leading in your own lessons,
  • Have an input in department meetings and reviewing policies and procedures.
  • Represent and feedback the views of other students
  • Assist at open evenings and help to promote a subject to Year 11
  • You will study for your Philosophy for Children (P4C) Training Level 1 to help you lead discussion and debate current issues.

5 x 4+ grades including English and Maths with a grade 6 in the A Level subjects you want to study
History Finance
Psychology Law 

Sport and Leisure

 

Suited for careers in…. sports leadership, the leisure industry, accounting, fitness and wellbeing

Double Award BTEC Sport and one A Level
OR Combine two A Levels and BTEC Sport

 Double BTEC Sport & Business 
  • You will study for Sports coaching certificates e.g. Higher Sports Leaders Award Level 3 (HSLA) 
  • There are significant benefits to the students as the nationally accredited course with an added First Aid qualification unlocks many doors to coaching opportunities. The HSLA is also recognised on the UCAS Tariff (16 points).

5 x 4+ grades including English and Maths with a Merit in BTEC Sport a grade 6 in the A level subjects you want to study

Financial Services

… the city, business and finance, accounting, banking, marketing, legal services, law

3 x A Levels

Choose one subject from each block.

 Finance (Mandatory)
  • You will have the chance to participate in the LIBF Student Investor Challenge - this is both good fun and very useful for those looking for a career in the stock market (students get to invest a virtual £100,000 in the markets, with a chance of winning a trip to New York City)
  • You will also have a chance to be involved with the Young Enterprise Company programme - students set up and run a real business with guidance and support from outside advisors
