Subjects 2019

Academic Curriculum (for September 2019 onwards)

The EA6 curriculum comprises a blend of A-levels and level three vocational qualifications, enabling students to select subjects to suit both their interests and their aspirations.

The curriculum is designed to include a high number of ‘facilitating subjects’ (marked with an asterisk) which are the subjects that the top universities most frequently require in order for students to study with them.

The subjects we offer have been chosen to support a wide range of potential future careers, so that whether you want to be a doctor or a designer, an architect or an accountant, an engineer or an entrepreneur, we have the courses for you.

A-Levels Vocational Qualifications

Business Studies BTEC Sport

Pastoral Curriculum

At EA6 we know that having good grades isn’t enough; we want you to leave us with good character, self-confidence and a clear sense of direction. To this end, we provide a comprehensive pastoral programme, which every week includes:

  • Service – an opportunity to give something back to our community, with students currently involved in activities ranging from supporting Year 7s with their reading, to helping out in the school garden.
  • EA Prospects – our careers programme which helps you to explore the full range of careers options and how to apply for them, with particular emphasis on applying to university.
  • TEA Talks – A series of weekly one-off lectures on a range of topics that are designed to introduce you to some of the most interesting and important ideas from around the world.
  • EPQ – a session each week to work on the ‘extended project qualification’ in which you will work on a meaningful project that will help you to develop the research and analytical skills that you will need to succeed at university.

Academic Curriculum (for current EA6 students)

The EA6 curriculum is designed to give breadth and variety for students to choose from. At EA6, students can choose from a number of different IB or A Level qualifications which ensures the curriculum is tailored directly to individual students' needs and aspirations.

The IBCP certificate is a high quality, diverse and rigorous qualification. Students wishing to pick the IBCP can choose two or more diploma subjects, one vocational subject, and will sit core lessons which comprise of service learning (volunteering), language development (learning sign language), reflective project (one essay based on an ethical topic) and PPS (personal and professional skills). The current diploma subjects we offer are history, economics, English literature and language, psychology and ITGS (information technology in a global study). The current vocational qualifications we offer are BTEC Sport and LIBF Finance. All qualifications will be reviewed for the next academic year and are subject to change. The IBCP certificate is an attractive proposition to universities who enjoy the mixture of rigour and holistic development in the students who take it.

The A Level route we offer students provides an equally demanding yet exciting programme of study. The A Level courses currently on offer are A Level maths, A Level biology and A Level chemistry. All qualifications will be reviewed before the next academic year and are subject to change. A Levels provide students with a comprehensive and in depth exploration of these subjects in preparation for further students at university.
